Karmin, a pop duo made up of engaged couple Nick Noonan and Amy Heidemann, may have yet to release their debut album, which is due out in the spring. But the duo, who got their careers launched thanks to YouTube, much like Justin Bieber, are ready to rock Saturday Night Live this weekend.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Nick and Amy say that starting out as a viral sensation on YouTube and then becoming an SNL musical guest is an honor, and it’s not such an odd match, since Amy has found SNL has a similar relationship with YouTube.

“I think it's safe to say that recently SNL has been doing a lot of stuff on the internet, kind of like we do.  They've got the Lonely Island songs that are just really super viral all over YouTube so our worlds aren’t too far apart, but we're honored to be one of the first to kind of have gotten our start on the internet then landed on SNL before our album is even out!” said Heidemann.

Karmin gained much attention on YouTube for their covers, most notably Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now,” but they assure that they won’t be bringing any covers to the SNL stage.

"It's been really exciting for us, a lot of people don't know we actually started out doing original songs on YouTube, but nobody was really searching for Karmin original songs,” Heidemann added. “It was our friend at the time and now manager who recommended we start doing covers. I know we got a lot of attention for those, but we’re so excited about the originals.  [Our debut single] "Crash Your Party" came out this past year that got a lot of radio play, and people are definitely digging the original stuff, but these two songs that we’re premiering on SNL are actually brand spanking new and we’re super excited."

Karmin may be unknown to those who don’t take to YouTube too often, but Nick Noonan says that Karmin has something “special and unique” to offer.

Saturday Night Live will be hosted by Zooey Deschanel and airs on NBC at 11:30 p.m.
