Zach Braff King of "Hearts"

The "Scrubs" star just picked his second directorial project, a remake of a Danish drama for Paramount.

You'd think after winning an Independent Spirit award and a soundtrack Grammy on time off from his television dramedy, Zach Braff would find time to rest on his laurels.

But Braff is already planning his summer hiatus from "Scrubs" to follow up his directorial debut "Garden State" with a remake of 2002 Danish film "Open Hearts."

Braff's buzz for 2004's "Garden State," which was an official selection for the Sundance Film Festival and which he wrote, directed and starred in, led to a bidding war over his next project, which he is expected to adapt and star in as well.

"Open Hearts" is a drama concerned with a disastrous car accident and its effects in the lives of two couples. Paramount is reportedly scouting locations in New Jersey, where "Garden State" was filmed and where Braff is from, for summer location shots.

Not that Braff has been slacking off lately; during last year's hiatus from "Scrubs" Braff filmed "The Last Kiss," a dramatic remake of an Italian film co-starring "The O.C."'s Rachel Bilson, and comedy "Fast Track" co-starring "Arrested Development"'s Jason Bateman.
