Zach Braff is leaving Scrubs after eight seasons as the goofy Dr. John Dorian.
While visiting Tel Aviv, Braff told Haaretz, Israel's oldest daily newspaper, that the show has been "the most amazing experience of [his] life," but he wants to pursue other things.
"There's so much I want to do with my life," Braff says. "I want to take piano lessons, I want to study at university, I want to travel, I want to do other parts, make another movie. So it was time to branch out and start a new chapter."
Braff will depart along with series creator Bill Lawrence and costar Judy Reyes. Though most believe this will be the last season of the Emmy-winning series, the show may continue without these key players.
Scrubs wrapped its eighth season over the summer. It will premiere on its new network, ABC, in January.
