Following in the footsteps of Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry, actress Zooey Deschanel is next in line for divorce.
Deschanel, 31, filed for a divorce from rockstar husband Ben Gibbard on Dec. 27, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the official split. The New Girl star also asked the courts to terminate Gibbard's right to spousal support. Gibbard, 35, is the lead singer in alternative band Death Cab for Cutie.
This divorce did not come with great surprise, however, as the couple has already been separated since Halloween. The separation was amicable and there were no others involved in the split.
"We're friendly. It's all fine," Deschanel asserts in an interview with People.
Finalization of the divorce will put an end to a marriage that has lasted for over two years. Deschanel and Gibbard married in September 2009. They have no children together.
In this time of divorce, Gibbard may have an outlet to keep him distracted. In the latest issue of Runner's World, Gibbard disclosed that he had taken up jogging to "shed some unhealthy habits." He became hooked on the activity after experiencing a "runner's high."
