She's the star of her own TV show, has a successful movie career and has recently been nominated or a Golden Globe and a Grammy, but now Zooey Deschanel has really made it.
Deschanel received a special birthday card Tuesday from a very special person — President Barack Obama. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Obama sent the star a personalized letter wishing her a happy birthday and "for good health and happiness in the year ahead."
Deschanel's recent success has brought attention to her website HelloGiggles.com. According to The Huffington Post, through the website, Deschanel has been able to work with the White House to encourage young women to make a difference in their communities. Obama even said in the letter that he was grateful for the work she has done to "support young women who are making a difference across our country."
Deschanel, who shares her birthday with First Lady Michelle Obama, posted a picture of the letter on Instagram and later took to her Twitter to express her disappointment in the president for not attending her birthday party. "It's okay. I get it. I would go to Michelle Obama's birthday instead of mine, too."
