Football Wives Ended Before It Began - Football Wives, the new drama starring Gabrielle Union, Ving Rhames and Holly Robinson Peete, has been cancelled. The show was based on the British soccer drama Footballer$.
Not sure what the suits at ABC are thinking with this move. The official reason for the cancellation was that the network didn’t have the money in the budget to add this show. They have, however, the money to add a show about cavemen based on a Geico commercial. What’s up with that?
Others have speculated the real reason for Football Wives' demise is the NFL. The NFL is a lucrative property and when they speak, networks listen apparently. The NFL is very concerned about its image and didn’t like the direction of the show. Topics for Football Wives included domestic abuse, groupies and drugs. I guess the powers that be in the NFL are saying they don’t want their dirty laundry aired in a television show, because all those topics are featured in the NFL and their players on any given Sunday.
This is most disappointing because I was looking forward to seeing Gabby on television again and I think a lot of other people were too. ABC needs a hit show and Football Wives could have been it. The plot is intriguing, the cast is star packed and people love to get a glimpse of what is going on behind the scenes.
I hope the Caveman show proves to be a big hit because ABC is going to need it, now that they aren’t going to air Football Wives.
Lindsay Lohan’s Cry for Help - Lindsay Lohan just can’t seem to control her erratic behavior and has yet another public meltdown. It was reported that on early Saturday morning, police arrested the beauty for being under the influence of drugs and alcohol. They even found cocaine in her car. Now most people in that situation would find themselves in jail, but not Ms. Lohan. She went to the hospital to be treated for her injury due to the accident. Thankfully, the two people with her were unharmed.
According to TMZ.com, Lindsay was driving a 2005 Mercedes SL-65 convertible with two friends in Beverly Hills when she lost control of her car. The actress was sent to the hospital and treated for her injuries.
I fear Ms. Lohan will never get it together as long as everyone around her treats her addictive and destructive behavior with kid gloves. Lindsay doesn’t turn 21 until July, and yet time and time again reports surface of her being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. She has tried rehab but needs to try it again, or someplace else, to get the help she needs.
Lindsay needs to be in a place where she can take an assessment of her life before she seriously harms herself or someone else.
Rosie Leaves The View - It appears that Ms. Rosie has decided to leave The View before her contract officially runs out. (Gasp!) Rosie and Elisabeth Hasselbeck had an on-air fight that was shown in split screen. This did not please Rosie one bit, and she has left the show.
But this is Rosie we’re talking about, so you know she has to make a big scene before she leaves. There have been rants posted on her blog and then the video, where Rosie names her pain and vows never to speak to a certain someone on The View ever again.
I guess Babs Walters is wishing she had kept Star for all the problems Rosie has had with her co-hosts. Perhaps all the things that Star was saying weren’t far off base. It makes you wonder what is going on over there on The View.
