Paris's New Home Not Exactly the Hilton

Heiress to abide in 12 by 8 cell for three weeks.

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton got an early start on her jail sentence in an effort to dodge paparazzi, which seems decidedly out of character for the photogenic socialite. Honestly, who but Paris Hilton could look good in a mug shot? Hilton stepped practically straight from the MTV Movie Awards red carpet to the big house, starting a three-week jail term at Century Regional Detention Facility. Her new home-away-from-home is just outside Los Angeles. Hilton bore the brunt of a good deal of joking, at her expense, during the MTV award show. At one point, the Los Angeles Times reports, Hilton was apparently fighting back tears at the joking suggestion that she be carted off to jail early.

Hilton has admitted that she is nervous, even frightened, but that she is prepared for the next three weeks, and hopes to serve as an example to young people. Her stay at the facility will be in the "Special Needs" section, meaning she won't have to mingle with common jail-goers, but there is the potential of having a roommate. Her 12 ft. by 8 ft. cell will be her home except for an hour a day in which she will be allowed some recreational time.
