An American Idol Goes Home
American Idol finalist LaKisha Jones traveled back home to Michigan to sing for her state this weekend. Hundreds of fans, including Governor Jennifer Granholm, gathered at the state capital on Monday to watch Jones sing.Granholm announced to the crowd that she was proud of Jones' accomplishments and that she had voted for her. Jones sang, "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from "Dreamgirls" and "God Bless the Child." She sang both of those songs during her stint on the hit Fox network talent contest. Screaming fans held up signs and took pictures of their idol choice throughout the event. "My life is at a complete 360," the singer commented. "God has really blessed me tremendously."Jones sang the national anthem during a baseball game between Detroit Tigers and the New York Mets. The 27-year-old singer was honored on Saturday by her hometown of Flint by naming it "LaKisha Day." Jones is set to head to Los Angeles today, along with the other "Idol" finalists, to start her rehearsals for the "American Idol" tour.
