Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz attacks a heckler at a Chicago show.
Pete Wentz is the new Akon. After an acoustic show at Schubas in Chicago, the most public member of punk rock band Fall Out Boy decided to deal with an audience member who was teasing him about his relationship with starlet Ashlee Simpson. The heckler was reportedly taunting Wentz by yelling out “Where’s Ashlee?”
While the rest of the band headed off the stage to exit, Wentz went directly after the heckler. He reportedly threw a beer bottle, landed the first punch, and kicked the poor guy in the face while he was down. Wentz’s bodyguard pulled him off the troublemaker and they ran out the door.
Pictures have surfaced of the resulting blood all over the floor of the venue. Wentz e-mailed a statement to MTV News defending his actions, claiming that on his way out the door, the heckler grabbed him and said something rather unsavory. In self defense, Wentz punched the guy, starting a brawl that the bassist claims he had no interest in initiating. Who knows who is telling the truth, but that sure was a rock and roll ending to an otherwise acoustic show.
