Former Beatle Paul McCartney gives a free show in New York.
Paul McCartney surprised fans with a hastily arranged performance in New York on Wednesday. The former Beatle performed a free show for about 700 people at the Highline Ballroom in Chelsea. It was announced only on McCartney’s website. Free passes were distributed through the website and to fans who lined up outside the ballroom on Wednesday.
McCartney played 20 songs, including Beatles favorites and new songs from his latest album, "Memory Almost Full." He opened with “Drive My Car” and played “Hey Jude,” “Lady Madonna,” “Let It Be,” and “Get Back.”
The small venue inspired McCartney to reminisce. Before performing his 1982 single “Here Today,” the rock icon said, “I’d like to dedicate it tonight to fallen heroes John, George, and Linda,” referring to band mates John Lennon and George Harrison, as well as his former wife.
