Fight at BET Awards -
"Why can’t we just get along?" Rodney King said a decade or so ago. I asked myself that same question after hearing at the melee that took place at Warner Music Executive Kevin Liles party. According to Celebrity journalist Jawn Murray’s report on Black Voices the fight started when a person from TI’s camp got into it with Chaka Zulu who works with Ludacris.
"First it was two guys, then it was six guys, then it was 10 guys," the Widdicombe source noted, describing how the fight escalated. "Plates were being smashed, the hotel lost a palm tree. The place got trashed ...T.I. was like a dog in a meathouse. Chaka's shirt got all torn up. As people spilled outside, [onlookers] were asking, 'Who got shot?'"
TI and Ludacris have been battling it out for some time now about which rapper is the King of the South. Both rappers hail from Atlanta. Ludacris has sold millions of records and made a successful crossover to acting. I will never forget his electrifying performances in "Hustle & Flow" and the multi award winner "Crash." TI’s breakout acting performance was "ATL" and he also has sold millions of records.
Some people just don’t know how to act and hotheads like TI should have people around him that are professional, but apparently that is not happening. This has got to be so embarrassing for Kevin Liles. Kevin has seen a surge in his career with the publication and promotion of his new book and talented artists signed to the label.
Oprah Winfrey brought up issues of the actions and lyrics of rap artists and Kevin Liles along with Russell Simmons defended the artists and the industry. I wonder what they are saying now. This has got to be so embarrassing for Kevin. Reports said the room where the party was held was trashed and people were running our of the room.
TMZ.com Angers African-Americans Readers -
Reports on TMZ.com angered many readers regarding their posts on the BET awards. The site referred to Beyonce as a roboho for her performance at the show. Posts on Sandrarose.com and YBF.blogspot.com contained the rants of those angered by TMZ's report. I checked out the site and I didn’t see any positive coverage of the show. Even Perez Hilton who is notorious for speaking his mind no matter whose feelings get hurt had some positive things to say about the show. Perez loved the opening act of original Dreamgirls Jennifer Holiday and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson.
Jasmynecannick.com has written an article about it on her site and people are hot over this. The comments to her site keep pouring in.
It appears that someone taped Kobe trashing the Lakers and people can download it for a free. No word yet on who leaked the tape, but I’m sure all this attention is not helping the Lakers in their negotiations with the volatile star.
In other sports news OK magazine will get first rights to publish photos from Eva Longoria and Tony Parker’s wedding July 7. Ok a competitor of People magazine paid a reportedly 2 million for the photos.
