Spacey to Appear in Superman Sequel
Kevin Spacey has agreed to reprise his role as Lex Luthor in Bryan Singer's upcoming "Superman: Man of Steel," his sequel to last year's summer blockbuster "Superman Returns." (Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth will also be reprising their roles as Superman and Lois Lane, respectively). Both Spacey and Singer will have to cram the shooting of this movie into very tight schedules. Before playing Luthor again, Spacey will shoot a movie called "Telstar" and begin rehearsals for a revival of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow; after playing Luthor for six weeks, he will return to his duties as director of London's Old Vic Theater.
Singer, for his part, will shoot "Valkyrie" (which has caused controversy in Germany) and "The Mayor of Castro" before beginning work on the sequel.
Spacey's theater activity has led many to conclude that he has entirely given up on movies, but he has refuted these claims, though he does admit that theater is now his priority: "My priorities have changed. Theater is the number one thing in my life. But I love movies and will continue to make movies when I can. I don't care about my personal acting career any more. I'm done with it."
