Disturbia director signed on to work on comic based movie
According to Variety, D.J. Caruso has been hired by New Line Cinema to direct the movie version of the Vertigo comic, "Y: The Last Man."
Caruso will be directing a script written by Carl Ellsworth, who wrote "Disturbia", "Red Eye" and numerous episodes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Produced by Chris Blender, J.C. Spink, Mason Novick and David Goyer, the film centers on a mysterious plague that is killing all the world's male mammals over night. As the only survivor of this plague, a magician and his pet monkey set out to find what might be responsible for killing all the men.
This film is the second movie based on a comic that's been brought to life by Bender and Spink, who are also working to develop a film version of "Power and Glory" with New Line.
