KISS Singer/Guitarist Sidelined by Heart Ailment

Paul Stanley of KISS suffered a heart ailment that kept him from performing with band at California casino show.

KISS singer/guitarist Paul Stanley suffered a heart ailment that caused the band to play without him at their concert on Friday at Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, California.

According to Billboard.com, "'During sound check, my heart spontaneously jumped to 190 plus beats per minute where it stayed for over an hour, necessitating paramedics to start an IV and give me a shot to momentarily stop my heart and get it into a normal pattern,' Stanley said on the KISS web site. 'Not knowing if this episode was life threatening made it even more exhausting.'"

The remaining members of the band tried their best to give the audience their all, even without Stanley. Fans aided the band by singing the vocals to songs such as "Christine Sixteen," and drummer Eric Singer took the microphone to sing "Black Diamond."
