Prison Break Star Sets an Example
Lane Garrison is setting an example for America.
The former Prison Break star is appearing on a PSA to warn the American youth about the dangers of drinking and driving.
"Ask yourself if you've ever driven after having a few drinks or have gotten into a car with someone who has been drinking," he says. "If you answered yes, you were lucky."
The actor also gives outstanding statistics such as more than 500,000 people being killed due to drunk driving accidents in the United States. Intercalated with his speech are scenes of teens drinking at a party and then getting in a car. A tragic accident occurs and a girl can be heard in the background saying her boyfriend is dead.
Garrison is clearly teary eyed in the PSA which can be seen on the website tmz.com.
On December 2, Garrison, at a blood alcohol level of 0.15, jumped a curb and hit his SUV into a tree, killing 17-year-old Beverly Hills High School student Vahagn Setian and injuring two 15-year-olds. He was charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, and causing injury and providing alcohol to minors. He pleaded guilty to all charges and could face from six months to eight years in jail. The district attorney and the victim's family have been pushing for the highest sentence. His verdict is due this Thursday.
Garrison is currently free under $100,000 bail and prohibited from driving a vehicle, drinking alcohol, and encouraged not to have any contact with the victim's family or witnesses of the accident.
