R. Kelly Has a Trial Date

R&B singer will finally be judged for child pornography charges.

After five years of being accused of child pornography, R. Kelly finally has a scheduled court date.

After a reportedly lengthy meeting between the judge, lead prosecutor, R. Kelly and his lawyers on Wednesday, the Chicago Sun-Times website reveals the jury trial will start on September 17.

So far, R. Kelly, aka Robert Sylvester Kelly, has pleaded not guilty to all 14 charges of child pornography, which include a sex tape in which he is supposedly engaging in sex acts with an under aged girl.

Kelly's attorneys have questioned the identity of the girl and her age, as well as the presence of their client's image on the tape at all, proposing that it might have been computer generated.

The 40-year-old R&B singer, who has since his accusations had six successful albums and three national tours, has said he will surpass this chapter in his life.

As he told the Associated Press in 2005, "I'm going through my own struggle ... and you're either gonna fold or you're going to stand, and I believe in standing."
