Britney Spears to Opening VMAs.

Britney Spears will be headlining MTV's Video Music Awards. Set to be broadcast this Sunday, the Video Music Awards is a popular staple for the young and the young at heart. Executive Producer Jesse Ignjatovic announced the news on Thursday. In an article in The Boston Herald, Ignjatovic explained that he "...wanted to start the show in a very big and dramatic way and she's the one to do that...She'll captivate everyone and set the tone for the rest night."

Britney Spears has recently been in the news for incidents in which she did not display the decorum typically expected of a mother. Spears' divorce from Kevin Federline was finalized this summer. Final custody arrangements for the couple's two children have yet to be completely sorted out.
