Wrinkle In Time Author Passes Away
Madeleine L'Engle, famous author over 60 books, passed away on Thursday at 88 in Connecticut. A "Wrinkle In Time", her most famous book, has been a childhood classic for decades, winning the John Newbery Award in 1963. Although the "Wrinkle In Time" series is her most famous, she published the first book of the "Meet the Austins" series a few years before. L'Engle's work was often autobiographical, and felt that her characters lived in some way.
L'Engle has been criticized by religious groups for her use of scientific theory and not always positive view of Christian beliefs. "Wrinkle In Time" has become one of the most banned books due to the nature of her writing. Beyond those critiques, L'Engle is viewed as an essential children's fiction writer. L'Engle will be missed not only in the world she created in her works, but by all those who have read her words.
