Britney Spears Opens the VMA's
The long awaited comeback of pop artist Britney Spears greeted the MTV VMA audience with an understated blow. The performance had Spears dressed in a scantily clad glittery bikini surrounded by women working stripper poles in front of a bright red background. The performance was not as high impact and show stopping as her previous VMA performances. The lip syncing Brit seemed to be much slower and out of shape than she usually is during her performances, which included a make-out session with Madonna, a classroom-schoolgirl dance with Nsync and an encounter with a snake. She performed her new single, from her so-far-untitled album, "Gimmie More."
The show's opening comedian, Sarah Silverman, started her slamfest with a bang by saying, "Was that incredible? Britney Spears, everyone." Wow. She is amazing. She is 25-years-old and she's already accomplished everything she's going to accomplish in her life. It's mind blowing."
According to People, Mary J. Blige was rooting for the popstar and told the press, "I absolutely think Britney could make the comeback," Someone who's been through as much as she's been through -- you just want her to win. I know I want her to win."
