Disney to Test Toy Safety
The Disney company has plans to start a new process by which new toys will be randomly tested for safety.
Disney's getting safer. Or at least that is the hope. Disney announced today that it will be randomly testing about 65,000 toys coming from about 2,000 licensees, according to an article from MarketWatch. This is coming on the heels of Mattel's recent and well-publicized recall of many toys. Mattel is a Disney affiliate. The most notorious case occurred when a shipment from China was recalled for dangerously high levels of lead in the paint used on the toys. According to the article, Gary Foster, a Disney spokesman, says that "Disney wants to add another layer of security." After the announcement was made for the new security measures, Disney fell shares slightly.
