Disney Is Number One Kids Channel

Disney UK won the title of number one rated kids channel for its summer line-up.

Disney can rest assured - it's popularity is in no danger. The UK Disney channel pulled in its highest recorded summer ratings, and "High School Musical 2" hasn't even been premiered yet. In an article on the UK's DigitalSpy, it was reported that Disney rated as the "number one kids' channel" among 4 - 15 year olds. Disney came in overall as the third highest rated channel, right behind BBC One and ITV1. "The Sweet Life Goes Hollywood" and "High School Musical" were listed as two very popular viewings for UK Disney. The managing director for Disney Chanel UK, Rob Gilby, was quite happy with the news, adding that "In an age when kids have the luxury of so many sources of entertainment, we are thrilled that they are choosing to watch Disney Channel in their millions." In the article, Gilby also added that "... over 5 million kids watched something across the Disney Channel multiplex at some point over the summer, which is nearly 60% of kids in the UK." With the sequel to "High School Musical" being released on the 21st and other popular programming to kick off soon, The Disney Channel appears in no danger, in the immediate future, of losing its massive viewer base.
