Dreamgirl to Join "Sex and the City"

Jennifer Hudson of "Dreamgirls" fame is set to star in the "Sex and the City" movie.

Jennifer Hudson is going to the city - the Sex and the City movie, that is. In an article on ActressArchives.com, Hudson has reportedly joined the cast of the Sex and the City movie. The Oscar winner is set to play Carrie Bradshaw's (Sarah Jessica Parker) assistant. The movie is slated to begin shooting on September 19. The film is also reportedly set in the world of today, placing it four years after the end of the popular series. The movie will star the same familiar faces of the show (Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie, Kim Cattrall as Samantha, Kristin Davis as Charlotte, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda and Chris Noth as Big). The film's director will be Michael Patrick King, the show's former executive producer. King is also getting credit for having written the script for this movie. The show was based on the writings of Candace Bushnell.
