Former vice-president Al Gore receives an Emmy Award
Former vice-president Al Gore was honored at Sunday's Emmy Awards, held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, for his attempts to launch a TV network featuring programs created by viewers.
"We are trying to open up the television medium so that viewers can help to make television, and join the conversation of democracy, and reclaim American democracy by talking about the choices we have to make," Gore said during his acceptance speech.
This award was not the first Gore received from Hollywood. He was given an Academy Award earlier this year for his documentary about global warming called, "An Inconvenient Truth."
