Avril Lavigne was the big winner at Thursday’s MTV Europe Video Music Awards.
Canadian rocker Avril Lavigne was the big winner at MTV Europe’s Video Music Awards Thursday night. Lavigne took home two awards -— Most Addictive Track for “Girlfriend” and Solo Artist of 2007 -- beating out Justin Timberlake, who walked away with no trophies, despite having the most nominations (a total of four) and dominating the awards show last year.
Amy Winehouse quickly and quietly accepted her award for Artists’ Choice (an award voted on by fellow musicians) before giving a less-than-stellar performance of “Back to Black” later in the night.
The award for Album of the Year went to Nely Furtado for “Loose,” while Justice won Video Star for the second year in a row.
The event, hosted by rapper Snoop Dogg, took place in Munich and included performances by Mika, Foo Fighters, My Chemical Romance and Lavigne.
