Schoolteacher Arrested for Alleged Affair with Student
Twenty-five year old school teacher Kelsey Peterson faces charges of kidnapping, child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, as well as federal charges for the transportation of a minor across a foreign border for sexual activity. Peterson was arrested Friday night after driving from Nebraska to Mexico with her 13-year-old student, Fernando.
The 6th grade math teacher and basketball coach at Lexington Middle School was taken into custody by the FBI in Mexico and transported back to the U.S. The 13 year old student was released to relatives in Mexico.
According to court documents, Fernando wrote to Peterson saying the relationship was not based on sex. The documents also said Peterson's laptop contains letters to the boy claiming that she is "100 percent faithful to him." Police are still currently investigating the nature of the relationship.
