King Tuts Mummy on Display
The iconic King Tut's mummy went on display today for the first time ever. It is 85 years to the day since his tomb was discovered, according to National Geographic. The remains of King Tutankhamun were found in Egypts famous Valley of the Kings and has rested in his sarcophagus until today. The remains were carefully transferred to a special glass display case 30 feet from the tomb's antechamber. The mummy has been rapidly deteriorating due to exposure to heat and humidity the high tech glass case the remains are in now will preserve it. "I can say for the first time that the mummy is safe, the mummy is well preserved, and also at the same time, all the tourists who will enter this tomb tomorrow morning will be able to see the face of Tutankhamun for the first time," said Zahi Hawass, secretary general of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities. This display is expected to more than double the visitation to the tomb from 350 tourist to 900.
