Katie Holmes Stars in NYC Marathon
Holmes New Role: Marathon Runner
Sunday's New York City Marathon featured a surprise runner. Katie Holmes, former "Dawson's Creek" star and current wife of Tom Cruise, registered under an alias in an effort to dodge some of the media attention and ran the 26.2 mile course that traversed all five boroughs of New York City, according to the Associated Press.
Among tens of thousands of runners, Holmes finished the race in 5 hours and 29 minutes. Husband Tom Cruise and daughter Suri were at the finish line waiting to congratulate the actress.
Holmes said she wanted to do the marathon because she enjoys running and the training helped her lose the baby weight after Suri was born one year ago.
