Elisabeth Hasselbeck Gives Birth to her First Son
The View co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, gave birth to her second child Friday at an Arizona Hospital, according to ABC News. The baby boy weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and the Hasselbecks will be reveal their son's name on Monday's show in a phone call with the co-hosts.
Elisabeth and her husband, NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck already have one daughter, Grace, 2. "Elisabeth and I are happy to announce the arrival of our son and we're thrilled he arrived safely. Both mom and son are healthy and happy," Tim Hasselbeck said in a statement.
Elisabeth, who is the show's most conservative co-host, has been on maternity leave since Oct. 23rd. "It was not easy to leave my co-hosts and our crew early, but it was more than clear to me that I want my family to be under the same roof when our baby arrived," Elisabeth wrote earlier this week.
Hasselbeck, a former Survivor contestant, has been the focal point of much controversy and media attention as of late, especially in regards to her on-air feuds with former co-host Rosie O'Donnell. Barry Manilow even refused to appear on "The View" due to his dislike of Hasselbeck and her views.
About 3 million viewers tune into the show daily, and it has received 22 Daytime Emmy Awards. Barbara Walters is the executive producer.
