New Social Networking Allows You to Buy Event Tickets
Going.com, a new social networking website, announced Wednesday that its users will be able to buy tickets to events on their site, according to a report by the Associated Press. The web site will begin by selling tickets to a Moby concert this week.
Users who are mostly in their 20's can go to going.com to see who and how many people will be attending certain concerts or parties. Most of the events are user-organized ones in Boston, San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. They plan to launch in Miami and Atlanta in the next couple weeks, and 10 other cities by early next year.
Going.com aims to tap into the ticketing market, which has been dominated by Ticketmaster and similar businesses that sign exclusive ticket distribution deals with artist, concert and sport promoters. Unlike Ticketmaster, Going will sell tickets for events that are not available through traditional outlets.
Going.com CEO and Founder Evan Schumacher said, "Ticketing was the last-mile solution for the 300,000 local monthly RSVPs that occur on our site. Our goal was to connect the long tail of promoters with event-seeking audiences."
People can connect with others in their network before, during and after events via going.com. Schumacher calls it a "people delivery" business.
