NFL player in critical condition

Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor was shot in his home near Miami, Fla., on Monday, according to Reuters. The 24-year-old defensive player was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital and listed in critical condition. According to the Miami Herald, Taylor and friends heard a disturbance at the rear of the house and upon investigating Taylor was shot in the leg. The local police have not confirmed those details.

Nancy Perez, Miami-Dade's police Lt., said that Taylor "was shot in the lower extremities."

Taylor was the Redskins' first round draft pick (5th) in the 2004 draft and had five interceptions this year before heading to the sidelines with a leg injury two weeks ago.
