NBC Relying on Reality TV During Strike
NBC has plans to run more reality television shows as the writer's strike continues on. According to Reuters, the strike, ending its fourth week, will soon begin to take its toll on regular programming. As the Hollywood strike goes on, fewer episodes remain standing by as nothing new is delivered from the striking writers. The writers say they will continue to strike until a new and more beneficial contract can be reached between themselves and the studios.
Reuters reports that NBC will be adding an additional three hours of reality programming per week, come January, for a total of six hours of reality programming per week on the network. "Gladiator," "1 vs 100" and "Biggest Loser" are reported by Reuters as returning to fill in the time slots once occupied by such popular NBC shows as "Chuck."
