Tom Petty Named Super Bowl's Halftime Performer

Number 1 TV Spot Announces This Year's Entertainer

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have just been announced as the halftime entertainment for the 2008 Super Bowl on February 3, in Arizona, according to a report by Reuters.

Earlier this year, nearly 140 million Americans saw Prince perform at the number one television event. The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and U2 have also earned the coveted spot. The most notorious halftime performance took place at 2004's Super Bowl where Janet Jackson experienced a wardrobe malfunction in which her breast was exposed.

Fox will televise the National Football League's annual championship game, which will take place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
