The Big Tuna returns to the NFL

Bill Parcells lands in Miami

It's official: the Big Tuna now sleeps with the fishes. According to the New York Daily News, Bill Parcells will be named Vice President of Football Operations for the Miami Dolphins, a team that won its first game of the season this past Sunday. He has no plans to return to the sidelines as head coach.

The Dolphins agreement with Parcells adds more woe to the dreadful season the Atlanta Falcons have had. They were in negotiations with The Bug Tuna as late as yesterday morning, with Parcells even saying that would probably accept an offer to run the Falcons. But by nightfall, that tune had changed, and Parcells had a four-year deal in place to run the Dolphins.

"We met with him (Wednesday morning) to complete the contract. At that time, we were made aware by Parcells that he was considering a revised offer from the Miami Dolphins. He later informed us that he would not be signing a contract with us." Falcons owner Arthur Blank said.

The Tuna had better roll his sleeves up, because he has a lot of work ahead of him. The Dolphins are one of the worst teams in the league, and have a lot of holes to fill. Their quarterback situation is a mess, they have no consistent threat at wide receiver, their once mighty defense is getting older by the day, and they are still in possession (ha-ha) of oft-injured,oft "influened" running back Ricky Williams. However, challenges aren't new to Parcells. His calling card has been turning around troubled franchises, from the Jets to the Cowboys. Let's see what impact he can have on the woeful Dolphins.
