Poker on the Mississippi
29-Dec-2007
Written by:

Poker history began in America on Mississippi river boats in the mid-19th century and quickly spread to the Old West, where it was a popular game in the saloons. The game has never lost its allure and with its recent revival thanks to the World Series of Poker and Celebrity Poker television tournaments, poker has gained an all new following. Poker's spread has increased globally, going beyond the casinos and Thursday night poker games in the kitchen, thanks to Online Poker. Now, I am a big fan of playing Poker, whether in the glitzy casinos of Las Vegas and Atlantic City or at the kitchen table surrounded by my closest friends. When I first started playing Poker Online, I was naturally skeptical. How can playing on a computer compare to staring down someone across the table? But I was surprised. In many ways, playing Poker on the Internet was so much better. The action was just exciting as that at a regular poker table, and I was actually able to bluff since no one could see my sorry excuse for a poker face. Plus, while playing poker on the Internet I am able to play more than one of my favorite games at the same time, increasing the exciting action and upping my winnings. I may not be able to make it to a casino every year, or make it to my friends' house every Thursday night for a game, but with the Internet I can enjoy my favorite card game at any time.
