Dr. Phil Says Spears Needs Serious Help
Dr. Phil to the rescue! T.V.'s famous psychiatrist Dr. Phil McGraw dropped by for an impromptu visit with Britney Spears this weekend, reports The New York Daily News. Apparently McGraw was recruited to talk with Spears while she was being held under surveillance at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Spears had been admitted to the hospital after a bizarre incident on Thursday, characterized by many as a complete meltdown at her Studio City home. After police were summoned to the home and found Spears in a mentally unstable position, she was taken out of the home via gurney, and placed in the psych ward of Cedars-Sinai, under suicide watch.
McGraw related the findings of his visit to "Entertainment Tonight:" "My meeting with Britney and some of her family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention. I am very concerned for her." McGraw reportedly wants Spears to be the star of a show segment he is doing on her.
Britney had what many referred to as a complete" meltdown" Thursday night, soon after an associate of ex-Mr. Spears, Kevin Federline, came to pick up the children from Spears. Spears was reportedly screaming, crying and then proceeded to lock herself and her youngest son in the bedroom. Soon after Federline's bodyguard called the police, who came to assist.
A police spokeswoman said that it was clear that Spears was under the influence of some foreign substance. She was taken to Cedars-Sinai and was treated as a "special needs" patient, with constant surveillance.
