NBC May Not Telecast the Golden Globes
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association met with NBC Sunday to discuss the affect of the current strike by Hollywood writers on the Golden Globes. According to Reuters, the HFPA wants NBC to cancel the telecast of the Golden Globes, which is set to air on January 13. Members of the Screen Actors Guild have taken a stand on this controversial subject and declared they will not be attending the Golden Globes if Hollywood writers are still picketing. By canceling the telecast, the HFPA hopes the writers will stop the strike, therefore enabling actors to attend the Golden Globes to accept recognition for awards. NBC is considering its current options on this issue. They may decide to maintain the broadcast of the show on its original date, cancel the broadcast all together, or possibly postpone the awards show. NBC will make its final choice Monday on whether to air the Golden Globes.
