"American Idol" Has Landed
16-Jan-2008

"Idol" kicked off season 7 last night.
Millions of Idol fans tuned in last night to watch the premiere of the 7th season. As usual, the telecast began with a recap of the audition process, however good or bad it may have been. Simon Cowell put his stamp of approval on this season and viewers are hoping to be entertained.
There were the usual hits and misses at the auditions, but the contestants seem to get more erratic from season to season. For instance, this season’s “William Hung” will definitely be a woman by the name of Alexis. After being axed from the audition, Alexis kindly exited the room and immediately began swearing. Then there was Paul, who wrote a disturbing song about stalking Idol judge Paula Abdul.
Nevertheless, there were singers like Chicago’s Angela Moses who wowed the judges with her rendition of Stevie Wonder's “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.”
Auditions resume tonight in Dallas, and Idol fans expect to start seeing more “diamonds in the rough.” With Idol viewership flatlining last season, one can only hope that season 7 fares far better in comparison.
