Tom Cruise Compared to Joseph Goebbels

A German historian compared Tom Cruise to Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.

Tom Cruise can't be too happy about it. The Church of Scientology probably isn't thrilled either. A FOX News article says that in a weekend report by the Angence France-Press, a notable WWII historian likened Cruise's words in a recent video touting Scientology, to the infamous Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.

FOX reports "a famed World War II expert" named Guido Knopp saw parallels to a speech Cruise gave in front of other Scientologists in a new video recently leaked outside of Scientology Church spheres and onto the world wide web. Scientology is known for its mystery, as few outside of the religious movement know about the specific goings-on inside. The article states that the expert compared Cruises' zeal to a 1943 speech in which Goebbels called for "total war."

According to AFP, on the video Cruise asks "Should we clean this place up?" Knopp is quoted as adding that "The scene in which Cruise asks if the Scientologists should clean up the world and they all respond 'yes' will remind any German with an interest in history of Goebbels' infamous Sports Palace speech." An especially haunting point of this allegation is that Goebbels, a visible member of the Nazi party, was a part of a genocidal campaign to rid the world of "undesirables" and eventually murdered millions of innocents in the name of world domination. Anytime someone is derided as a Nazi or sympathizer as such, it carries many dimensions.
