From Mob Boss to Music Promoter

James Gandolfini will appear in Marvin Gaye biopic.

According to UPI, James Gandolfini, better known to audiences worldwide as Tony Soprano, mob boss who (fill in the blank) at the end of the historic HBO show The Sopranos, has signed on for a role in Sexual Healing, a biopic chronicling the last years of singer Marvin Gaye's life.

Jesse L. Martin, known for his roles in the movie version of the musical, Rent, and his long running tenure on NBC's Law & Order, will play the troubled singer in the movie, which is scheduled to begin shooting April 15.

Gandolfini will not only portray Gaye's promoter in the film, but will also serve as one of the film's producers.

Lauren Goodman, director of A Last Goodbye, will direct Sexual Healing from a script she wrote, based on Steven Turner's book entitled Trouble Man.
