Metallica and Pearl Jam to Headline Bonnaroo

Bonnaroo gets heavy this year with '90s hard rock bands Metallica and Pearl Jam co-headlining the festival.

Bonnaroo has announced the lineup! Metallica and Pearl Jam will co-headline the 2008 festival, which is held annually in Manchester, Tennessee. Bonnaroo veterans relish this four-day, multiple-stage festival and impatiently await the lineup announcement each year.

Other artists that are scheduled to appear are Kanye West, My Morning Jacket, Robert Plant with Alison Krauss, and Lupe Fiasco to name just a few of the recognizable artists scheduled to perform.

Many members of Bonnaroo's online community have posted concerns about this year's headliners, however. Metallica and Pearl Jam are two alternative hard rock bands of the '90s that make up a pretty heavy-duty rock show for a festival that was once a serene and laid-back neo-hippie jam-band fest. "What's Happening to ROO?" one message exclaimed, apparently distressed about the kinds of fans Metallica will attract.

Others take pride in the festival's ability to bring together different kinds of people with its myriad artists.

Oh, and contrary to popular belief, Led Zeppelin will not be staging their long-awaited reunion at the festival. It is, in fact, Lez Zeppelin, an all-female Zep cover band.
