Visa Clearance Given, but Amy Winehouse Won't Be Heading to Grammy Awards
After the U.S. Embassy in London initially rejected British sensation Amy Winehouse's visa request in order for her to perform at the Grammys live, the Department of Homeland Security has now issued a waiver on that decision, effectively allowing the soul singer to fly to Los Angeles to perform at Sunday's Grammy Awards ceremony.
However, the decision has come too late as Winehouse, who has been in rehab for the past couple of weeks, will not have sufficient time to prepare for a live performance in Los Angeles. Chris Goodman, her spokesman, explains, "Unfortunately, due to the logistics involved and timing complications, Amy will not be traveling to the U.S. to perform at the Grammys in person." Instead, Winehouse will go ahead with plans to perform via satellite from London.
The Grammy Awards could possibly be a bountiful night for the songstress, as she is up for six awards, including the prestigious album of the year for her best selling album, Back To Black. Others joining her in performing, but live at the scene instead, are Beyonce, Rihanna, John Mayer and many more.
