Lucas to release animated feature in theatres.
Reuters reports Star Wars mastermind George Lucas is releasing the animated movie, Star Wars: The Clone Wars this summer.According to Lucasfilm Ltd. and Warner Bros., the movie will be released Aug. 15, just before a TV series sharing the same name debuts on the Cartoon Network and TNT.
Lucas said he feels there are "a lot more 'Star Wars' stories left to tell," and he is "eager to start telling some of them through animation."
Lucas, who directed American Graffiti and produced the Indiana Jones trilogy, is most famous for creating the Star Wars universe, which has proven profitable for over 30 years and includes six feature films, countless novels and comic books, animated specials, merchandise, and boasts a huge worldwide fan base.
