Porn moratorium ends early

Porn producers are ready to start filming after HIVscare

Almost a month before planned, the self-imposed porn filming moratorium has been lifted. Porn film producers voluntarily adopted the 60-day cease of porn production when five actors in the industry tested positive for HIV. These included one actor and three actresses who had worked with Darren James without using condoms, and an unrelated case in a transexual performer.

Now that about half of the 50 porn actors quarantined have been tested several times and proved negative, officials from the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) said they see no reason why porn producers could not continue to shoot as long as the actors still under quarantine do not perform.

The HIV scare has sparked calls for reform in the porn industry, including demands for mandatory condom use and inspections during filming, but critics argue such sanctions could be deadly for the industry.
