McCain Gains Money and Support Over Times Article
According to The New York Times, the McCain campaign has gained more support despite an article printed Thursday that alleged the Republican presidential candidate had a romantic relationship with a female lobbyist.
"For a lot of conservatives, being attacked by The New York Times is a badge of honor," said Fox News anchor Chris Wallace. "I think they must figure, 'Well, if John McCain's being bashed by The Times, he must not be all bad.'"
The McCain campaign reported Friday that they just had the best 24 hour period of online fundraising since they started, although they did not give any numbers, according to The New York Times.
Rick Davis, McCain's campaign manger, reportedly sent out an email to supporters which said, "We need your help to counteract the liberal establishment and fight back against The New York Times by making an immediate contribution today."
McCain said Friday that he does not have any more comments on the issue and does not intend to discuss it any further.
