Schwarzenegger Reclaims Army Tank for the Kids

The Governator has asked a U.S. museum to return an army tank.

According to the Associated Press, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will offer inner city children in the Los Angeles area an opportunity to ride in an Austrian army tank, as an incentive for being drug-free and staying in school.

Schwarzenegger asked Motts Military Museum in Groveport, Ohio to return the tank to him for this reason. The Governor originally acquired the M47 American-made tank from the Austrian government. He had it shipped to Florida, where it was then transported to a shopping mall in Columbus, for the opening of a Planet Hollywood in 1999. The tank was placed in the museum in 2000.

On Feb. 19, Schwarzenegger had the tank removed from the museum and transported to California, where he plans to store it in a private location. He has expressed his excitement to be able to offer this experience to children. The Governor used to offer trips to his movie sets, but has not had anything to offer since his acting career ended, until now.
