Daytime's Bubbly Winners!

Soak in the aroma of these winners!

The 31st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards were broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City, Friday, May 21st on NBC, hosted by the exceptionally lovely Vanessa Marcil.

I'm going to bring attention to my favorite part of the show and the real reason I tune into it, soap operas!

Winners in the soap category were awarded the luxury of being "lathered up", as the best of the best in their category. The Young and the Restless won a couple of biggies- for Outstanding Drama Series (I'm so thrilled, that is my favorite one!), and for Outstanding Lead Actress going to Michelle Stafford (who plays Phyllis.). Anyone who watches that show knows how deviously good she is in that role, deserving to win!

As the World Turns received Emmys for Outstanding Writing and Supporting Actress went to Cady McClain (who plays Rosanna Cabot Montgomery).

Another of my favorites, Jennifer Finnegan won Outstanding Younger Actress for her role as Jennifer on The Bold and the Beautiful. Although no longer on the show (nighttime has beckoned her talents to Crossing Jordon), she truly played that character with phenomenal acting abilities that cannot be duplicated.

Outstanding Lead Actor went to General Hospital's Anthony Geary (who plays Luke Spencer), and it was a tight race for the men in that category for they are all exceptional actors. My personal pick would have gone to Eric Braeden (who plays Victor Newman on Y&R).

Outstanding Supporting Actor winner Rick Hearst (who plays Ric Lansing) scored big for General Hospital fans.

Outstanding Younger Actor went to General Hospital's Chad Brannon (who plays Zander Smith), and who had one heck of a roller coaster ride with his character lately.

Outstanding Directing Team honors also went to General Hospital.

On a sad note, beloved actress Anna Lee (who played Lila Quartermaine on GH) passed away last week from Pneumonia. Anna was awarded The Lifetime Achievement Award, which was accepted by her son. Other recipients included; Rachel Ames (Audrey Hardy on GH), Jeanne Cooper (who plays Katherine Chancellor so great on Y&R), John Clarke (Mickey Horton on Days of our Lives), Frances Reid (Alice Horton on Days of Our Lives), Ray MacDonnell (Joe Martin on AMC), Ruth Warrick (Phoebe Tyler on AMC), Don Hastings (Bob Hughes on ATWT), Helen Wagner (Nancy Hughes on ATWT) and Eileen Fulton (Lisa Grimaldi on ATWT), were highly acknowledged as applause filled the stage for their impressive, memorable and continuing soap careers.

Overall, for a soap fan like me, it was a good year. My only problem with the show this year was with the ladies attire, or lack there of. A bunch of ladies, who normally look riveting at this gala, appeared to be overly greased in the bust area and just showed way too much skin. These ladies are beautiful, talented and usually carry themselves so regally. Next time ladies, lay off so much of the after bath oil! You're all too classy and too talented to let it get the better of you.

On a squeaky clean final note, The Young and the Restless guys did it! I love your show! Congratulations once again!
