Carlson Gets the Boot
10-Mar-2008
Written by: Mallory Groff

MSNBC fires Tucker Carlson because his show was not bringing in the ratings.

Tucker Carlson is getting the ax again. The New York Times has reported that the political correspondent, who has been hosting the low rated Situation with Tucker Carlson on MSNBC since 2005, will no longer be needed. Before this, Carlson hosted Crossfire on CNN, and he was also let go from that position. When MSNBC hired Carlson, there was hope that he would be a hit, but after a few years it has become obvious that he is not working for the MSNBC audience.

A show with NBC’s White House correspondent, David Gregory, will replace Carlson’s. Gregory is an up and coming newscaster and he has been Matt Lauer’s number one substitute. Gregory will continue to do his White House correspondence for NBC. MSNBC hopes that the rising star will bring success to the 6 p.m. weeknight time slot.

It wasn’t the only announcement MSNBC made today. They will also be starting a new early afternoon daily show with veteran political correspondent Andrea Mitchell.
