Warren Buffett Will Play Himself on Soap Opera

It is a real soap opera when Warren Buffett leaves Erica Kane to take a call from Bill Gates.

Warren Buffett, 77, who made his fortune in the stock market, accepted a cameo role on ABC's 38-year-old soap opera, All My Children.

Buffett's scene will be with the show's famous star, Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci, after the character was convicted of insider trading. At one point, he will excuse himself to talk to Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates.

Bloomberg.com is reporting the planned appearance on the show and said Buffett met AMC's creator, Agnes Nixon, in 1988 at the Winter Olympics, where they talked about writing. Nixon then invited Buffett to appear in his first cameo, in 1992.

She also bought stock in Berkshire Hathaway, Inc., of which Buffett is the chairman, and has attended several of Buffett's annual shareholder meetings. "I didn't think he was a writer. I thought he was a financial genius," said Nixon.

Nixon is planning to screen Buffett's cameo, before the show airs, at the May 3 shareholders' meeting.
