L.A. Times to Investigate Tupac Story

The documents used to support a claim that associates of Sean “Diddy” Combs were involved in an assault on Tupac Shakur, may be false.
According to the Associated Press, the Los Angeles Times is preparing to conduct an investigation, concerning the authenticity of a story implicating that associates of Sean "Diddy" Combs were involved in a 1994 assault on Tupac Shakur.
The story, which broke a little over a week ago, is being reviewed after the editor of the Web site, The Smoking Gun, told the newspaper that the FBI records used to support the validity of the story might have been false.
"We're taking this very seriously and we have begun our own investigation," Nancy Sullivan, a spokeswoman for the newspaper, told the Associated Press.
According to The Smoking Gun, the documents seemed false because they appeared to be written on a typewriter instead of a computer, included blacked-out sections not typically found in such documents, and other reasons.
When the Los Angeles Times initially reported the story, Combs eminently denied that he had any connection to the 1994 robbery and shooting of Shakur at a New York recording studio.
The shooting triggered a heated feud between East and West Coast rappers, Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., ultimately leading to their untimely deaths.
As of yet, Combs's attorney, Howard Weitzman, has not requested a retraction from the newspaper.
