The couple had been married for nearly 19 years.
Robin Williams’s wife has filed for divorce, ending 19 years of marriage, the actor’s representative, Mara Buxbaum, told PEOPLE Wednesday.
Marsha Garces Williams filed a divorce petition in San Francisco on March 21, citing irreconcilable differences as the reasoning on the petition, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The couple have two children: daughter Zelda, 18, and son Cody, 16.
Williams, 56, and Garces, 51, wed in April of 1989, shortly after the Academy Award winner’s divorce from his previous wife, Valerie Velardi, to whom Williams had been married for 10 years.
The Good Will Hunting star met Garces while she worked as a nanny for Zachary, born in 1983 to Williams and Velardi. She subsequently worked as a personal assistant to the seasoned actor. But then, after their relationship evolved, Garces also worked with Williams on many projects—most notably as a producer on several films, including Jakob the Liar, Patch Adams, and Mrs. Doubtfire.
